Our Musicians

Music Director

Mr. Patchel is originally from Kennett Square, PA and has led the music program at Immanuel since 2011. As conductor, he has presented choral music of Bach, Fauré, Vivaldi, Rutter, and Mendelssohn both in liturgy and in concert. As organist, he has performed organ recitals in the U.S. and abroad including Boston’s Trinity Church, Harvard’s Busch Hall Museum, Princeton University Chapel, Saint Thomas Church, New York, Kelvingrove Art Museum, Glasgow, and St. Paul's Cathedral, London.

Steven is also a piano and organ teacher who enjoys guiding musicians of all ages. He received degrees from the Oberlin College Conservatory, and the New England Conservatory, studying organ with David Boe, Garth Peacock, Ray Urwin and William Porter; harpsichord with Lisa Goode Crawford; and choral conducting with Daniel Moe and Donald Teeters. Having studied graphic design at the Massachusetts College of Art, he has also done work in marketing and graphic design. He is pleased to continue the tradition of excellent music at Immanuel in his roles as organist, teacher, and choral director.
